Do you ever get tired of those canned spam messages? You know the ones… they all look the same. They show up in your inbox with a nice white background, pontificating about how “THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU” or how you’ll “MAKE THOUSANDS PER DAY.”

The only difference between one message and another is the links in ‘em. Jeeeez, you’d think those guys would get tired of sending the same message over and over. And all the while, here you are, checking the inbox thinking, I’m pretty sure this guy’s going to say the same thing the last guy said.

Maybe you don’t even read them. Sometimes I don’t. I just hit delete! While this is a real convenient e-mail feature if you’re the potential customer, it sucks if you’re the guy trying to sell something. You’re a marketer, you can relate…

Now don’t get me wrong. Not every program you get in your e-mail is bogus. There are a lot of legitimate programs out there that actually work. We’ve all probably deleted some money makers. What I’m complaining about is the approach. Without that human touch, that special spark of human input, those messages are just like static on the radio… you turn the channel.

Maybe you can relate to this too. Let’s see… I’ve tried mass ads, email leads, affiliate programs, websites, work at home directories, blah, blah, blah… but not much success was forthcoming. I was forced to re-examine my efforts. Why wasn’t I succeeding?


While scouring the virtual world over, looking for that one lucky break or secret program to wealth, I started to really see the guys who’re making the big money. I stepped back and saw them all as a whole and I realized something. ALL the Internet millionaires and marketing gurus have one thing in common. As a matter of fact, most of them TOLD me to do this. Unfortunately, this one thing gets overlooked all the time.

The magic guru secret? EVERYONE knows who they are! “Well, yeah” you say. “That’s what makes ‘em gurus, Tracey”. My answer to this is “Yeah…but they weren’t always gurus”…

Which raises the question, “Who were they before they were gurus?”

Truth is…they were YOU. Just like you… searching, wondering, waiting for the lucky break. In all honesty, most of them got tired of waiting and CREATED their lucky break. How? By BRANDING themselves!

A master marketer reveals himself so you begin to trust him. You begin to believe in him and whatever he’s selling. You might not buy anything right away, but he doesn’t mind. He knows it’s just a matter of time before you do. Pretty soon he’ll stand out from the other guys. Why? Because it’s hard to relate to “canned spam.” It’s much easier to relate to another human being.

Think about it…everyone’s heard of Stone Evans, Jim Daniels, Bob Proctor, Paul Birdsall, Deepok Chopra, etc… How did these guys get so famous?


Simple. The gurus got famous because they spoke up. They exposed themselves to the public, weren’t afraid to express their opinions, and created excitement about the information they were offering. In other words, they used a human approach to marketing. Rather than the “canned spam” messages that delivered nothing except diverted words promising air and no real content, these guys actually delivered practical advice and useful tools. By doing this they developed a relationship with the public, creating more and more loyal followers…i.e. customers.

You might be saying, “But Tracey, I have useful tools and practical advice. I’m still not going anywhere.” My answer is “Then you’re not BRANDED yet.”

So, what is branding? And how do you get branded?

First and foremost, you must establish your presence on the internet. There are so many ways to do this, I can’t even begin to list them all in one newsletter, but here’s a few pointers…

Ø First, get a website with your own unique domain name. This is the very best place to establish yourself as an expert. Don’t get me wrong here. There are GREAT affiliate programs in place on the internet and some are very lucrative. But how will you convince people they should buy the product from you?
Unless you’re going to keep sending “canned spam” and hoping someone buys something, you need to have a place to establish your worth. A place to stand your ground and prove to your customers that you have something they need. A website is a great place to do this.

Ø Next, if you’re not ready for a website, start a blog. If you’ve got a website, start a blog. You can get a free blog from the “Google Gods” at
www.blogger.com. You can go to www.dada.net and actually get paid to write blogs and upload photos. www.Helium.com is another awesome place to establish your self as an expert in your field, gain exposure, and make some cash. Helium.com is a great tool for measuring the effectiveness of your writing, since you get paid by your popularity with the readers! If you don’t think you write well, you can still start a blog! You can go to any variety of free article sites and get content for your blog. To top it all off, you can make money by displaying Google Ads on your blog.

Ø Finally, get a system. You’ll probably spend a lot of time developing your own system. As a matter of fact, to successfully brand yourself, you’re eventually going to need your own product or system.

You’ve now got the basic tools you need to start branding yourself. Remember, first get a website
. Next, establish yourself as an expert by blogging or article submission. Last, get a system for marketing your business, affiliate program, or your own product.

The emphasis these days is on social and cooperative networking. Everyone is aware of the huge social network growth on the internet. Platforms like MySpace, Microsoft Live, FaceBook, Dada.net, and FameCast are growing with astonishing speed. The trend is expected to continue, because of the potential for growing business and personal relationships worldwide.

New interactive sites are popping up every day. Audio e-mail messages, YouTube videos, and flash website presentations are just the beginning. The trend is toward a more personal marketing style. Let’s face it, when people are shopping at your online store they’ll trust you more if they’ve seen you around the internet. Your customers will know you’re real. You might be like them. You might even become a friend.
